A royal Artist under Louis XV’s reign, Edme Bouchardon is known for his strong commitment to life drawing, his investigation of the relationship between drawing and sculpture, and his passion for ancient art. This major international exhibition, developed in partnership with the Louvre and The Getty, included copies after the antique, subjects of history and mythology, portraiture, anatomical studies, ornament, fountains, and tombs in addition to highlighting his techniques in drawings, sculptures, medals, and prints.
