Leveraging important works, including several on loan from the Louvre, “Poussin and the Dance” demonstrates how the artist worked through the 1620s and 1630s, with a choreographer’s eye, using wax figurines and looking toward sculptural works from Antiquity to craft a new style. The exhibition establishes a dialogue between the old master’s work and new dance films by LA choreographers through the dual lenses of art history and contemporary dance.
