Renoir: The Body, The Senses

François BOUCHER (Paris, 1703 - Paris, 1770) Diana Leaving her Bath 1742
June 8–September 22, 2019

According to The Clark, “on the centenary of Renoir’s death, this exhibition provides new perspectives about the artist’s stylistic trajectory through the lens of a single subject. Renoir captured bustling scenes of the urban cityscape, members of fashionable society, and fleeting moments of atmospheric effects upon landscape, but his overarching preoccupation was the nude—an interest that was, at least in part, rooted in his desire to be considered alongside the great artists in history. ”

The Louvre has one painting by François Boucher on loan for this exhibition. The exhibition will continue on to the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth from October 27, 2019 to January 26, 2020.
