Donating Works of Art

The Musée du Louvre holds one of the world’s most renowned collections, with more than 600,000 objects and approximately 35,000 on view. In addition to raising funds for the museum, American Friends of the Louvre also facilitates the donation of artworks by Americans.

All proposed gifts are reviewed by the Louvre’s specialized Acquisitions Committees and overseen by the French Ministry of Culture, with priority given to works of exceptional quality, historical significance, and artistic relevance. U.S. donors whose pledged works are accepted may be eligible for certain tax benefits.

Interested collectors are invited to contact us at info@aflouvre.org with details about the work(s).
