Private Visit at Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr
During a private visit at Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr, AFL members learned about the two remarkable histories that meet in the heart of Paris: the centuries-old legacy of Bonhams, founded in London in 1793 and now a global force in the art market, and the singular vision of the legendary French auctioneer Pierre Cornette de Saint Cyr, who established his eponymous maison in 1973 as a vibrant, family-led hub for contemporary creation and iconic collections.
The visit featured The Greek Sale, a collaborative sale curated by Bonhams in Paris and its associates in Athens, Art Expertise. This curated exhibition included works by late 19th- and early 20th-century Greek artists whose influences include symbolist artists, the post-cubist movement, and Byzantine artistic traditions. The morning began with light refreshments, followed by an introduction of the Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr auction house, and a visit of the works presented in The Greek Sale with Philippe-Stratis Glyptis, Senior Art Advisor & Greek Art Specialist at Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr.
