Spring Trip to Washington, D.C.
In April, members of the International Council and Chairman’s Circle were invited to travel to Washington, D.C. to explore the cultural jewels of the city, including some of the more recently opened venues. The nation’s capital boasts more than 75 museums focused on history, science and the arts, including the renowned National Gallery of Art which is a longstanding partner of the Louvre.
The itinerary comprised three full days and evenings of activities. Highlights included private visits to Blair House – The President’s Guest House and to the Diplomatic Reception Rooms of the Department of State. Members also spent an afternoon discovering the exceptional collection of Byzantine art at Dumbarton Oaks and received special tour of the Mignone Halls of Gems and Minerals at the Museum of Natural History featuring some of the world’s most stunning specimens. Members were hosted for an elegant dinner by His Excellency Phillipe Etienne at the French Ambassador’s historic art-filled residence in Kalorama.
