Visit of JR’s exhibition “Les Esquisses de la Caverne” at Perrotin, Paris

AFL members enjoyed a special morning visit of Les Esquisses de la Caverne, French artist JR’s new exhibition at Perrotin Paris, with Peggy Leboeuf, Director of Perrotin, New York.

Les Esquisses de la Caverne offers a glimpse into the creative process behind La Caverne du Pont Neuf, the artist’s monumental, ephemeral public installation transforming Paris’s historic Pont Neuf into an immersive cave-like passage. Inspired by Plato’s allegory of the cave and questions surrounding perception, illusion, and imagination, the project explores art’s ability to reshape our experience of reality.

More than studies for a larger project, the works on view stand as independent explorations of memory, landscape, and perception. Through layered imagery and material experimentation, JR invites viewers behind the scenes of his creative process while reflecting on the power of art to reconnect fragmented realities and imagine new ways of seeing the world.
