Fall Member Programming in Paris

Last month, American Friends of the Louvre opened Paris’ cultural season with a week of intimate artistic experiences and events designed exclusively for AFL members.
The week began with a private preview of Eric Fischl: Couples at Skarstedt Gallery. Renowned for his naturalistic paintings, Fischl captures charged moments of everyday American life, reflecting on image culture, sexuality, and modern relationships through mythological, literary, and cinematic references. Members enjoyed a rare opportunity to engage directly with the artist and delve deeper into his practice.
Members also received VIP access to both the Asia NOW Art Fair as well as Art Basel Paris. A highlight at the latter was exploring Harry Nuriev’s Objets Trouvés. Nuriev’s participatory installation transformed the Petits-Augustins chapel at the Beaux Arts de Paris into a communal, performative space, blurring sculpture, fashion, and design into immersive, functional environments.
The week concluded with an exclusive visit to the Private Choice exhibition, imagined by Egyptian-born Armenian-Franco collector and curator Nadia Candet. Set in a stunning private mansion in Paris’ 16th arrondissement, members met emerging artists Iseult Perrault, Sébastien Delbes, Mehdi Boualli, and the celebrated Laurent Pernot, experiencing Candet’s refined vision of artistic encounters firsthand.
